Students Participate in Hour of Code Hour of Code

This year, ECES students have participated in learning computer code.

From the Hour of Code:
Code.org® is a non-profit dedicated to expanding access to computer science and increasing participation by women and underrepresented minorities. Our vision is that every student in every school should have the opportunity to learn computer science, just like biology, chemistry or algebra. Code.org organizes the annual Hour of Code campaign which has engaged 10% of all students in the world and provides the leading curriculum for K-12 computer science in the largest school districts in the United States. Code.org is supported by generous donors including Microsoft, Facebook, the Infosys Foundation, Google, Omidyar Network, and many more.

Salvation Army's White Christmas Salvation Army Food Drive

Elbert County Elementary collected 2,628 items for the Salvation Army White Christmas Canned Food Drive.  This food will be distributed to families in need in Elbert County during the holidays.  The students participated in a friendly competition to see which class could bring in the most cans.  The class winners were Ms. Lysheka Stowers with 234 cans and Mrs. Jackie Bryant with 221 cans.  Mrs. Wiles treated the winning classes with a pizza party.

Operation Christmas Child Students with gift boxes

Students at ECES collected items to fill boxes to support children in need around the world.  Samaritan’s Purse project Operation Christmas Child collects shoebox gifts—filled with fun toys, school supplies and hygiene items—and delivers them to children in need around the world.  We are proud of the generosity of our students.
