ECCHS held its 5th annual Reality Store event on March 24, 2017, in the multi-purpose room of our Band/ROTC building. At this event, 9th graders are given a month's salary (on paper) and have 10 "booths" they must visit to spend their money... housing and utilities, clothing, transportation, choices (phone, internet, cable), childcare, insurance (car and medical), life's unexpected, furniture, and groceries. Financial counseling is provided for those who do not have enough money to visit all booths.
Approximately 36 individuals from the community and 7 ECCHS faculty members volunteered to work the event in which over 200 Freshmen participated. Special thanks to all of our volunteers and the many businesses who allowed their employees to be a part of this great learning opportunity. Businesses allowing employees to volunteer included the following: Pinnacle Bank, Northeast Georgia Bank, Regions Bank, Elberton Federal Savings and Loan, Franklin Insurance, City of Elberton, SEPA, CNA, Everlasting Granite, EGA, Community Partnership, Turner Concrete, First Methodist Church, and Main Street Elberton. A number of happily retired community members also donated their time and efforts for the event.
