Elbert Elementary Drama Team Production Forget Me Not Cast

The Elbert Elementary Drama Team presented the play, Forget Me Not The Story of Mary Musgrove Queen of the Creeks.  Funding for this play was provided by the Georgia Council for the Arts Vibrant Communities Grant and the Harold Warren Charitable Trust.  The cast performed for parents, guest,and students March 29, 2018.  Congratulations to all!

Making the Shade Planting Trees

Elbert County Elementary School (ECES) was recently awarded a $5,000 “Making the Shade” Program Grant through the Georgia Forestry Commission (GFC) to provide shade trees for the elementary school’s playgrounds. The “Making the Shade” program is funded in cooperation with United States Forest Service and is designed to create healthier, shaded playground areas on elementary school campuses throughout Georgia.

Elbert County Schools will remain closed to faculty, staff, and students tomorrow, Thursday, January 18, 2018.

ECES will be Closed Tomorrow, January 17 Cold temps

Due to the National Weather Service's hazardous weather forecast of frozen precipitation and frigid temperatures, all Elbert County schools and the board office will be closed tomorrow, January 17, 2018.

Our students had a surprise visit from their friend, Mecole Hardman.  There were a lot of smiles when they saw him.  We are proud of our Bulldawg!

Students Participate in Hour of Code Hour of Code

This year, ECES students have participated in learning computer code.  

From the Hour of Code:
Code.org® is a non-profit dedicated to expanding access to computer science and increasing participation by women and underrepresented minorities. Our vision is that every student in every school should have the opportunity to learn computer science, just like biology, chemistry or algebra. Code.org organizes the annual Hour of Code campaign which has engaged 10% of all students in the world and provides the leading curriculum for K-12 computer science in the largest school districts in the United States. Code.org is supported by generous donors including Microsoft, Facebook, the Infosys Foundation, Google, Omidyar Network, and many more.

PTO 2nd Grade Christmas Play Christmas Play

You are invited to the ECES 2nd Grade Christmas Play at ECMS Auditorium at 6 pm.  Please join us for this event.

Salvation Army's White Christmas Salvation Army Food Drive

Elbert County Elementary collected 2,628 items for the Salvation Army White Christmas Canned Food Drive.  This food will be distributed to families in need in Elbert County during the holidays.  The students participated in a friendly competition to see which class could bring in the most cans.  The class winners were Ms. Lysheka Stowers with 234 cans and Mrs. Jackie Bryant with 221 cans.  Mrs. Wiles treated the winning classes with a pizza party.  

Operation Christmas Child Students with gift boxes

Students at ECES collected items to fill boxes to support children in need around the world.  Samaritan’s Purse project Operation Christmas Child collects shoebox gifts—filled with fun toys, school supplies and hygiene items—and delivers them to children in need around the world.  We are proud of the generosity of our students.

4th graders create book character pumpkins 4th grade book character pumpkins

4th grade students created pumpkin models of the book character of their choice.  Students loved looking at these displayed throughout the school.  Great work, 4th grade!

Mindy Black receives Hart EMC Grant Mrs. Black and students

Mindy Black was awarded a Hart EMC Bright Ideas Grant.  This grant will be used to support instruction in the project she outlined in her grant.  Pictured with Mrs. Black are her students.  Thanks to Hart EMC for the support of the education of our students.

Students Give a Hoot, and Don't Pollute Woodsy Owl Visit

Elbert County Elementary students were treated with a visit from Woodsy Owl.  The students in Mrs. Fernandez’s and Mrs. Black’s classes were recognized for keeping the playgrounds clean and litter free.  Special thanks to Forester Mark Wiles and Speech Pathologist  Marti Wiles for making this special visit possible.

Red Ribbon Week Plans Set 2017 Red Ribbon

ECES will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week (Drug Awareness Week) October 23rd-27th.  We encourage teachers and parents to discuss this important topic.  We will use slogans and different attire to call attention to "being drug free."

Best Day with CHAMPS and ECSD CHAMPS Day

THANK YOU Elbert County Sheriff's Department!  Our school had the best time at CHAMPS Day.  We appreciate the time spent with us.  The students and staff had a great day.  What a awesome way to reach out to our children and build relationships in our community!

Attention Parents/Guardians

District Comprehensive Needs Assessment/District Improvement Plan

You are invited to attend the district level Comprehensive Needs Assessment (CNA)/District Improvement Plan (DIP) meeting which will be held Tuesday, June 5 at ECMS in the auditorium beginning at 2:00p.m.  The purpose of the meeting is to share strengths and needs at both the district and school levels.  All stakeholders will have the opportunity to provide feedback for developing and revising the District Parent and Family Engagement Plan and the District Improvement Plan which address student achievement outcomes through academic standards and performance expectations.

Kiss the Goat PTO Fundraiser Success Staff and Stella the Goat

Our PTO fundraiser was a success!  Coach Drake was the winner to kiss the goat.  Students raised $688 which will be used by PTO for outdoor improvements.  Thanks to ECMS FFA, Mrs. Dixie McCarty, Faye Carlan, and Briar McCarty for providing Stella the Goat.  Students donated 50 cents for a vote for Mrs. Wiles, Mrs. Spivey, Coach Human, or Coach Drake.  The fundraiser ran from Sept. 27 to October 5.  Thank you PTO!

Thanks Readers! Dr. Seuss Read Across America

Thank you to all of our parents, staff, ECCHS students, ECSD staff, and community members for taking time to read to our students as we celebrated Read Across America Day!  Without this support, our students would not have had such a great experience hearing from readers who care.  Also, special thanks goes to the Nutrition staff for their support as well.  Each year a menu is created that goes along with the Dr. Seuss theme.  ECES sends thanks to all!

Elks Lodge Supplies the School Elks Lodge Provides Supplies From Grant

Thanks to the Elberton Elks Lodge for the School supplies given to our students and teachers.  Lodge memebers applied for and received a Promise Grant from the National Elks Lodge.  Members visited the school and provided snacks for the students as the school supplies were distributed.  Thank you for supporting our school!

PBIS End of the Year Celebration PBIS EOY Celebration

Students who are caught making good decisions and being responsible engaged accountable leaders receive Super Kid Tickets throughout the year.  Today, drawings were held and prizes awarded.  Keep working to Be REAL! 

Helping our Community Red Nose Day 2018

Our students participated in Walgreen's Red Nose Day.  Our students raised $866.00 which is enough for 9,526 meals.

Book for Keeps! Books for Keeps

Books for Keeps was a great event for our school!  Thanks to this great organization for supporting our students and encouraging summer reading.  Our students will have 12 new books to help them keep reading.
