4th graders create book character pumpkins 4th grade book character pumpkins

4th grade students created pumpkin models of the book character of their choice.  Students loved looking at these displayed throughout the school.  Great work, 4th grade!

Mindy Black receives Hart EMC Grant Mrs. Black and students

Mindy Black was awarded a Hart EMC Bright Ideas Grant.  This grant will be used to support instruction in the project she outlined in her grant.  Pictured with Mrs. Black are her students.  Thanks to Hart EMC for the support of the education of our students.

Students Give a Hoot, and Don't Pollute Woodsy Owl Visit


Elbert County Elementary students were treated with a visit from Woodsy Owl.  The students in Mrs. Fernandez’s and Mrs. Black’s classes were recognized for keeping the playgrounds clean and litter free.  Special thanks to Forester Mark Wiles and Speech Pathologist  Marti Wiles for making this special visit possible.

Red Ribbon Week Plans Set 2017 Red Ribbon

ECES will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week (Drug Awareness Week) October 23rd-27th.  We encourage teachers and parents to discuss this important topic.  We will use slogans and different attire to call attention to "being drug free."

Infinite Campus Parent Portal Login

Parents, a letter concerning logins for Infinite Campus Parent Portal has been sent home.  Through the portal you can check student's grades and other information.  If you haven't received a letter, these will be sent again for new students.  Also, you may already have your information so a letter may not have come to you.  There is a link for the parent portal on our webiste under "For Parents." 

 

 

Input for Parent Involvement Funds

We need your input as to how to best put to use our Parent Involvement Allocation. The funds can be used for expenditures such as parent resource kits; literature (Spanish/English versions) for parents to assist students with academics; parent trainings/workshops and other items we may need for students throughout the school year.

We want to offer what will best serve our students and parents, so we would like for you to provide input and make suggestions as to what you think would be beneficial for both. Please follow the link to share your thoughts, ideas, and suggestions.

Message from the Superintendent: Safety Concerns Prompt Cancellation of All Classes on Monday, August 21 Eclipse

The Elbert County School District has cancelled all classes for Monday, Aug. 21, due to saftey concernes associated with the solar eclipse. It will be considered an inclement weather day and a make-up will not be required.

Title 1 Parent Committee Meetings Parental Involvement

Parents are invited to attend one of our Title 1 Parent Committee meetings on June 5th or June 12th at 12 noon in our Music Room. On the agenda, we will be reviewing and revising our Parent Involvement Plan, School-Parent Compact and the Title 1 School Improvement Plan.  We need to have input from our parents to be able to best serve our students.  We look forward to seeing you at one of these meetings.

Opportunities for Parent Input This Summer Parent Summer Meetings

Parents/Guardians, please join us during the summer break for two separate district level school improvement meetings.  The Comprehensive LEAs Improvement Plan (CLIP) /Comprehensive Needs Assessment (CNA) meeting is scheduled Tuesday, June 20, 2017.  It will be held at the ECMS auditorium beginning at 2:00p.m.  The purpose of the meeting is to present district level school improvement information and obtain input from all stakeholders.

 The district’s Parent and Family Engagement Plan meeting is scheduled Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at the Central Office in the Staff Development room beginning at 2:00p.m.  The purpose of the meeting is to obtain input from stakeholders regarding the best use of Federal funds for Parent and Family Engagement at all school levels.  Please contact Dr. F. Floyd, Federal Programs Director, for additional information.

EC Sheriff Supports ECES FORCE Students ECES FORCE Students Fishing Trip

We want to thank the Elbert County Sheriff's Department for their support.  During the year, Lt. Marc Fleming, Lt. Adam Moss, and Deputy Anthony Heard have worked with groups of students called F.O.R.C.E. The officers recently accompanied these students on a fishing trip which they had worked to earn.  We appreciate the time and support from the Sheriff's Department.  

ECES celebrated Red Nose Day with Walgreens Red Nose Day 2017

For the 1st time, Elbert County School System partnered  with Walgreen’s to support Red Nose Day.  Students donated $1.00 to buy a red nose to wear for Red Nose Day 2017.  Each dollar raised feed 11 children 1 meal.  On Friday, May 12, a Walgreen's representative shared with students in an assembly how much money they raised along with how many meals they help to provide.  During the assembly, the students wore their red noses. We are proud of how our students helping others.

Title 1 Family Engagement Night Title 1 Family - Literacy Night

You are invited to the Title 1 Family Engagement Night presented by ECES and ECMS on Thursday, March 16 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at the ECMS Auditorium.  this will be an eveing of Fun and Literacy!  Explore how literacy begins at home and how families play an importatn part in inspiring the love of literacy in children through Candy Land stations.  Fun activities for all ages and free resources.  Community agencies are involved such as Athens Tech and the Elbert County Public Library. There will be drawings for incredible Candy Cakes (made entirely from candy) and a bag with tech tools and goodies.

Parents and guardians are invited to meet with our District Parent Advisory Committee on Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 5:30 to 6:30 at the Elbert County BOE Central Office Staff Development Room.  The committee wants to seek methods to actively involve families and the community in school improvement initiatives a the primary, elementary, middle and high school levels.

Early Release Days Early Release Day

Early Release Days are set for Thursday, December 15 and Friday, December 16. On these dates, all students in grades PK-8 will be released at 1:00. ECCHS students who are car-riders or drive their own vehicle may be released at 12:15 p.m. All bus riders at ECCHS will be released at 1:00 p.m.

THANK YOU Elbert County Sheriff's Department!  Our school had the best time at CHAMPS Day.  We appreciate the time spent with us.  The students and staff had a great day.  What a awesome way to reach out to our children and build relationships in our community!

School Resumes Wed, Sept 13

We will have a regular school day on Wednesday, Sept. 13. Muffins with Mom for 3rd grade will take place along with our Book Fair.

Kiss the Goat PTO Fundraiser Success Staff and Stella the Goat

Our PTO fundraiser was a success!  Coach Drake was the winner to kiss the goat.  Students raised $688 which will be used by PTO for outdoor improvements.  Thanks to ECMS FFA, Mrs. Dixie McCarty, Faye Carlan, and Briar McCarty for providing Stella the Goat.  Students donated 50 cents for a vote for Mrs. Wiles, Mrs. Spivey, Coach Human, or Coach Drake.  The fundraiser ran from Sept. 27 to October 5.  Thank you PTO!

Title I Annual Parent Meetings

Parental involvement can make a huge difference in student achievement and is a major focus of the Elbert County School District’s school improvement efforts.  The purpose of the meetings is to provide information to parents to help them learn about the goals and purposes of Title I; learn about the standards, curriculum and assessments; and provide suggestions and ask questions about Title I plans, programs and activities.  The Title I Director and principals will present information along with other activities that have been planned at each respective school.  Come see and hear the wonderful things that are happening in our schools and learn more about the Title I program.

Elks Lodge Supplies the School Elks Lodge Provides Supplies From Grant

Thanks to the Elberton Elks Lodge for the School supplies given to our students and teachers.  Lodge memebers applied for and received a Promise Grant from the National Elks Lodge.  Members visited the school and provided snacks for the students as the school supplies were distributed.  Thank you for supporting our school!
