Last night was a great night.  Friendly faces, everyone having a good time and our student-athletes put forth a great effort and played a awesome game against each other.  The cheerleaders contributed to the excitement of the game with their enthusiastic and highly motivated cheers. Without a doubt, the Coaches and their student-athletes are working hard both on and off the court.

The Elbert County Lady Rams Soccer Team Had a Terrific Rebuilding Season Rams Soccer

The Elbert County Lady Rams soccer team had a terrific rebuilding season. The girls ended their season by advancing to the semifinals of the region tournament. Throughout the season, the team earned three victories over Hart County as well as a tie with Madison County. Overall it was a successful season for the Lady Rams, and they can't wait to see the growth the team makes next year!

The ECMS Rams Golf Team played a match against Madison County Monday night. Both the boys and girls won, to improve their record to 6-0. 

Congratulations to the Girls Soccer Team on Their Huge Win Over Hart County Rams Baseball

Congratulations to the girls soccer team on their HUGE 6-1 win over Hart County last night. Goals were scored by Heidi Navarro, Tariyah Allen, Olivia Massey, and two goals by Mazie Goble. Many assists were made by Ximena Laguana to push the team to victory. Come out and support the Ram soccer teams as they play in the tournament this weekend at Hart County.

ECMS Golf Team Claims Victory Over Stephens County ECMS Golf

ECMS Golf played a match against Stephens County Thursday night. The girls won a close match, 167-169, with the low score of 51 for Elizabeth Brady. The boys won 210-225, with the low score of 47 by Slate Crook. With the win Thursday, the golf team is now 5-0 on the year. Our next match is Monday, March 27 at home against Madison County.

Tonight is the Night!!! Title I Night at ECMS Literacy Land

You are invited to our Title One Family Engagement Night at ECMS on Thursday, March 16, at 6:00.  There will be fun activities centered around literacy and many resources available from our community. Everyone will be able to visit our sixth grade Challenge students Invention Convention and see imagination and creativity at work.  There will be drawings for candy cakes and other items during the evening activities.  Please come out tonight and enjoy a great evening at ECMS.

It's Pageant Time Again! Stop by the Media Center and Pickup Your Packet for Miss ECMS 2017 Miss ECMS Pageant

The eleventh annual Miss ECMS pageant will be held on March 11, 2017 at 7:00 pm in the Middle School Auditorium. The pageant is open to any female student currently enrolled at the Middle School. Sixth and Seventh grade girls will compete for 6th Grade Representative and 7th Grade Representative, respectively. Only 8th grade girls will compete for the title, Miss ECMS. The pageant will be a fundraiser for the Middle School, as well as other non-profit organizations.

Elbert County had 13 Students Selected to GMEA District 14 Honor Chorus EC Chorus District Honors 13 students

Elbert County Chorus had 13 students selected to participate in Georgia Music Educator's Association District 14 Honor Chorus. These students committed to rehearsing before the event and then 10 hours of one-day rehearsals with their choirs before performing a concert. We are so proud of how well these kids represented EC!

The advanced ensemble performed an incredible Pentonix arrangement of "Mary Did You Know?" that was inspiring. The professionalism and dedication of all the chorus students is to be commended.

We would like to give a big ECMS SHOUT OUT to Naomi Moran and Desiree Henderson! These two 8th grade girls donated their time and creativity to organize the donations for the Salvation Army Food Drive. Naomi and Desiree decided that they would design a fireplace complete with mantle and stockings hung by the fire (fake of course) with care. 2017-18 ECMS REACH Scholarship Winners

Congratulations to the 2017-18 ECMS REACH SCHOLARSHIP winners. They are:  Austin Bruce, Jamil Burton, Katie Hobbs, and Connie Lampkin.  REACH stands for "realizing Educational Achievement Can Happen.  It is a scholarship and mentorship program that begins in the 8th grade and is a key program of Governor Deal's Complete College Georgia Initiative.  

FFA Awarded Grant From EMC Dixie grant

Congratulations to Dixie McCarty and FFA on receiving a grant for Hart EMC in the amount of $490. The money will go to build wood duck nesting boxes! Another great opportunity for students to learn by doing! Thank you, Dixie, for all your hard work and time invested in this grant and to Hart EMC for their support in the education of our students through this grant.

Track practice will begin on Monday February 13th. Any girl or boy that has signed up should be dismissed to the gym on 4th shift. You need to have your ride pick you up at 5:15 at the high school track. You must have a physical on file in order to practice.

ECMS Parents: Tips and Information about Testing

This year all students will take their GA Milestone assessments on computers. Students have been exposed to the online testing format multiple times. Scores are used to measure student growth which is important for determining students, teacher, and school performance. Scores are also used for scheduling purposes for the next school year. Fifth and Eighth grade students that score Beginning Reader on ELA or Level 1 on Math will be required to attend Summer Remediation and Summer Retest per GaDOE.

  • Attendance every day of testing is important!
  • Please make sure your child gets a good night’s rest before testing.
  • Buses will run their normal operating schedule. Breakfast and Lunch will be served.
  • This year, 6th and 7th grade students will only take the assessments in ELA and Math.
  • Parents and students can study the format of online testing at gaexperienceonline.com

The fifth annual Friends Helping Friends Jam Fest & Taste of Elberton filled the ROC building at Elberton First Baptist Church on Saturday, August 26.  Participants enjoyed wonderful family entertainment provided by local and area musicians & vocalists while dining at the delicious food court prepared by local restaurants and caterers.

Virtual Reality Education is Explored in the Classroom students experiencing virtual reality

With the use of virtual reality equipment Coach Jones, along with the help of technology professional Bruce Brown, allowed students to experience virtual reality education. This fun exercise placed students in different atmospheres without leaving the classroom.

The ECMS Golf Team took the win against Franklin County in yesterday's match. Boys won 155 to 173 through 7 holes, and girls won 72 to 95 through 6 holes.

Congratulations to the girls soccer team on their win over Hart County. The girls defeated Hart in penalty kicks with a final score of 4-3. Goals were scored by Melanie Guerrero, Mazie Goble, Olivia Massey, and Ximena Laguana. Also, congratulations to the boys soccer team for defeating Hart County 2-0 last night. Both goals were scored by Irbin Olmos. Come out and support the Rams as they take on Stephens County on Thursday.

EC Chorus Had a Successful Day Friday at Our Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE) LGPE

EC chorus had a successful day at our Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE). 6th grade received straight Superior ratings in performance and Excellent rating in sight reading. 7th grade received straight Superior ratings in performance and Excellent rating in sight reading. 8th grade split the judges scores (2-2-1) and received an overall Excellent rating in performance, and they received a Superior in sight-reading.

The ECMS Golf Teams Had a Great Showing at Regions ECMS Golf

The ECMS Golf Teams held the Region Tournament this past Friday, April 14th, at Arrowhead Pointe, Out of 5 schools, the boys won, with the low medalist, Slate Crook scoring 90 through 18 holes. The girls finished second, losing a close match to Hart County. The boys team finished the year 8-0, with the girls team finished 7-1. It was a great year and we are looking forward to next season!

Safety Concerns Prompt Cancellation of All Classes on Monday, August 21 important announcement

The Elbert County School District has cancelled all classes for Monday, Aug. 21, due to safety concerns associated with the solar eclipse.  It will be considered an inclement weather day and a make-up day will not be required.  All staff, except bus drivers and cafeteria staff, will report to work as normal.

BETA Students Competed at the State Convention in Macon 2016 Beta Convention in Macon

Before Thanksgiving several BETA students competed at the State Convention in Macon. The quiz bowl team placed 3rd in State. The team consisted of: Ethan Cone, Josie Yeargin, Justin Bastyr and Madison Webb. The club scrapbook placed 2nd in state. Also, in a brand new category this year, Agriculture, Emma Williams placed 5th.

Harvest Thyme in FFA! Emily Flores-Hernandez harvested thyme from the hydroponics system today. She is completing an agriscience project with a variety of herbs. The thyme will be dried and served next month with roasted vegetables as part of Farm to School.

ECMS Boys Tennis Team Defeated Franklin Rams Tennis

On Wednesday, ECMS boys Tennis Team defeated Franklin 5-0. Corbin Brown and Gabriel Pless remain undefeated, with Bo Kidd winning another singles match and the doubles teams of Evan Poon and Daniel Loyd, as well as Justin Brown and Kaleb Ingle picking up wins.

ECMS Golf Teams Won Against Franklin County Yesterday ECMS Golf

Elbert County Rams defeated Franklin County yesterday in a golf match played at Highland Park. The girls won by a low score of 47 to 61, and the boys won 114 to 121.

The Boys and Girls ECMS Tennis Team Were Victorious Over Madison County Middle Rams Tennis

On Tuesday, despite extremely windy conditions, both the boys and girls were victorious over Madison County Middle. The Boys pushed their record to 5-1 and the girls recorded their first win of the season.

Congratulations to Ms. Dixie McCarty who was selected by her colleagues as the ECMS Teacher of the Year. She was nominated by a fellow teacher who said the following of Ms. McCarty: “Ms. McCarty goes above and beyond the normal classroom instruction with her students. She involves students in activities and events that are real world experiences. She creates a place for all students to belong and is always willing to help out fellow teachers.” We recognize and appreciate Ms. McCarty for all that she adds to our ECMS family.

The Middle School Soccer Region Tournament Scheduled for McWilliams Park has been Changed Rams Soccer

The middle school Soccer region tournament scheduled for McWilliams Park on March 24 and 25 has been changed. The tournament has been moved to Hart Co and will be held on March 23 and 25. This change is due to opening day for little league being held on March 25 at McWilliams Park. . Thanks for your support!

This upcoming Monday night, September 25th at 6:00 is our annual Night of Notables. We would love for you to come out and see the stations that the 7th and 8th grade students have completed, and the pumpkins and scarecrows that the 5th and 6th graders will have on display. They have really worked hard this year. Please consider coming out and supporting our students.

September is Attendance Awareness Month Attendance Matters

Attendance Awareness Month is September, but the campaign to end chronic absence starts now! It’s a bigger problem than you probably think. Addressing chronic absence is a key component of improving graduation rates, increasing academic achievement and giving young people the best chance at success in their adult life. Absences adds up! Missing just 2 days a month means a child misses 10% of the school year.
