The Fifth Annual FHF Jam Fest & Taste of Elberton Was a Success

Elbert County Elementary School teacher/Founding FHF Officer Katie McCall debuted as Auctioneer and auctioned off numerous scrumptious cakes during the event.  The inspirational concert started at 6:00 pm featuring Romans Road & Drew Saxon; Anna Purvis & Family and FBC' Praise Team (Elberton First Baptist Church); ECMS & ECCHS FHF; and DRBC Souled Out Youth (Dewy Rose Baptist Church).  Gary Purvis served as concert coordinator and MC.  Elbert County Elementary School teacher Mindy Brady and Elbert County Primary School teachers Kelly Hall and Alumni FHF President Courtney Mize Smith supervised ECMS & ECCHS FHF members who served as waiters and greeters as they paired up with their Friends for a fun evening.  Throughout the event everyone enjoyed a yummy assortment of food provided by local restaurants including Blazers Hot Wings, Clifford's, JaCarrs Catering & Elberton Country Club, McIntosh Coffee Shoppe, Papa's Pizza To Go, Richard's, Small Town Grill and The White Plate.  Ingles of Elberton donated an abundance of food for the event.  ECCHS FHF Sponsor Pam Brown set up the ECCHS Brewed Blessings Coffee Shoppe tent where students served coffee and waited on tables.  Devon Davis and Candy McNall served as photographers.   Friends Helping Friends Club, Inc. Board Members Donna Baker, Stephanie Brown, Gwen Childs, Mary Jane Denny, Greg Hall, Rick Higginbotham, Jane McCall, Lori Mize, Founding FHF President Abby Jordan Moon, Lynn Saxon, Leigh Starrett, Chrystal Thomas, Phyllis Thompson and Sandra Worley helped prepare for the event and/or manage each of the food, shirt, cake walk and silent auction stations.  Also volunteering prior to and/or during the event were Jeff Adams, Chick Brown, Whitney Brown, David Brown, Tom Denny, Robin Higginbotham, Debbie Jameson, Founding FHF Vice-President Hannah Starrett McAvoy, Rep. Tom McCall, Brent Moon, Marie Roach, Jacob Smith, Kevin Starrett, Ben Thompson, Mike Thompson and Nick Thompson.  Elberton Net videoed the event. to air on local TV.  Donations received totaled $5,700.  All proceeds benefit Friends Helping Friends Club, Inc., a 501(c)3 charitable organization providing exceptional educational opportunities such as school trips, special events, camps, lessons, crafts and school supplies for Elbert County students of all ages who are overcoming special challenges at no cost to the school system or to the students served.  All FHF members and workers receive no compensation.  FHF is dedicated to the memory of Bud McCall.  Visit FriendsHelpingFriendsClub.com for photos and videos and for more info about FHF.    Event coordinators/board members Gary Purvis and Sandy Adams expressed sincere appreciation to everyone who volunteered and to the community for their outstanding support of Elbert County students who are overcoming special challenges ...with a little help from their Friends.    :)
