Flu is everywhere in America right now. If you’re not sick, there’s a good chance some of your friends, family members, or colleagues are. The updated Weekly Flu Report indicates that this is the worst flu season since 2014-2015 and is projected to far exceed that year’s infection rate. There have been 5 confirmed influenza-associated deaths (all over the age of 65) and hundreds of hospitalizations. While the flu varies from season to season, the fact remains the single most effective way to prevent the flu is the flu vaccine.
Staff and students are strongly encouraged to practice good hand hygiene. Janna Carnes, school nurse at Elbert County Middle School, has provided a link to the CDC’s Handwashing: Clean Hands Save Lives video series. Another very helpful flu-related resource can be found at: Flu Guide for Parents
