Martrez Huff is the 23rd Recipient of the Kyle D. Wilhite Memorial Wrestling Award! MartrezHuff_WilhiteAward

Elbert County Blue Devil Wrestling Junior Martrez Huff was named the winner of the Kyle D. Wilhite Memorial Wrestling Award at the annual ECCHS Winter Sports Banquet on March 6, 2018. Each year the award winner is selected by Elbert County wrestling coaches, who are asked to select the Blue Devil wrestler who shows the most sportsmanship, provides the most leadership and displays the most competitive spirit among the team. The award was presented by Mrs. Connie Spivey, mother of Kyle Wilhite, and her husband Mr. Jerry Spivey. Martrez is the 23rd winner of the prestigious Kyle D. Wilhite Memorial Wrestling Award.

Each year during Black History Month, Augusta University holds the African American Scholar Recognition Program to recognize high school seniors who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement. High schools around the state are invited to nominate the top three African American students of the senior class in their school to receive this recognition. 3rd Annual Blue Devil Dash is 3/24! 2018DevilDash

Don’t forget to sign up for our Third Annual Blue Devil Dash 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run happening on March 24th at 9:00 AM (registration table opens at 8:00 AM). The registration cost is $30 the day of the event or $25 if preregistering prior to Dash day. Kids (10 and under) can be registered for $5 and ECCHS students for $10. All participants will receive a t-shirt, and awards will be given in various categories. All proceeds will go directly to the school, so come out, promote good health, and support ECCHS! 2018 Honor Graduates w/ Distinction Announced 2018_HonorGradsDistinction

In order to be named an Honor Graduate with Distinction, students must be HOPE Scholarship-eligible, and have achieved a cumulative weighted average of 97 or above by the end of the first semester of their senior year.

In alphabetical order, the 2018 Honor Graduates with Distinction are: Victoria Berry, Ryan Landaverde, Madelyn Libby, Gracie Page, Braydon Segars, Emma Smith, Alex Townsend, and Ricky Veal.

Added to this list, the top three highest-ranking seniors will be featured speakers at the graduation ceremony and will be recognized on the Academic Wall of Fame. 

For the Class of 2018:
Valedictorian is Libby Scott; Salutatorian is Eva Jourolmon; and 3rd Honor Graduate is Jackson Caruso.

Congratulations to all of these students for their hard work over the last four years!

In order to be named an Honor Graduate, students must be HOPE Scholarship-eligible, and have achieved a cumulative weighted average of 93 or above by the end of the first semester of their senior year.

Board of Education Approves 2018-2019 Academic Calendar Calendar

At its January 22 regular meeting, the Elbert County Board of Education approved the academic calendar for the 2018-2019 school year. School district staff and parents voted on calendar options during the months of December and January.  After the calendar survey was closed, Superintendent Chuck Bell recommended that the Board approve the calendar option that had received the largest number of votes.
