In Nursery Rhyme Productions, the children were able to experience
literature, music, and drama. They also practiced academic skills
such as reading, research, math, art, and movement. One unique feature
of the project was that it not only practiced academic skills, but it was
a medium that allowed children to utilize their natural talents.
Blackwell
Elementary has been focusing on Character Education. This play provided
enriching experiences in the following areas:
1. Self- Esteem
a. Children experienced the successful completion
of a project.
b. Shy children could build confidence performing within the
safety of a group.
c. Children had the opportunity to use a variety of talents
and skills.
d. They could be the center of attention in a positive way.
2. Sharing
a. Children shared time and energy in getting the
play ready to present.
b. They shared by performing the play for others - parents,
other classes, etc.
3. Cooperation and Responsibility:
a. Children experienced putting the needs of the group
ahead of their own special interest.
b. They had the opportunity to help one another as they prepared
for the play.
c. They experienced being attentive, on time, and prepared.
d. They practiced working together in both large and small
groups.
