My laptop or netbook is having trouble connecting to the wireless network. Is there anything I can do? If your netbook or laptop is having trouble connecting to the wireless network, look for the wireless network icon in the lower right hand corner. Right click on the icon and choose Repair. Will having other devices plugged into my laptop or netbook cause the battery to drain faster? Charging your ipods, phones, etc. with the netbooks, using one of the USB ports, drains the netbook battery tremendously, if the netbook is not plugged into a power outlet. How can I make my laptop or netbook charge more quickly? The netbook battery will charge faster if the netbook is shut down completely. What are Stand-By and Hibernation? Stand-By and Hibernation are used to start and stop your computer more quickly than you can if your computer is completely shut down. What is Hibernation? Putting your computer into Hibernation does not drain your battery while the computer is off. This is because the work you are doing is saved to the Hard Disk Drive and the computer is completely powered down. What is Stand-By? Putting your computer into Stand-By uses a little bit of power because your work is stored in RAM, instead of on the Hard Disk Drive. The computer must keep the RAM powered even when to computer is "off" or everything in RAM will be lost. Why should I use Stand-By? You might use Stand-By because your computer will go into Stand-By (and come out of Stand-By) more quickly than using Hibernation. However, your battery will be draining a little as long as it is in Stand-By. When the battery finally dies, you will lose any work which has not been saved to disk. Only use Stand-By when your computer will be shut down for a relatively short period of time, one day or less. For longer periods of time, use Hibernation or shut down the computer completely. What do I do if the website I want is blocked? If you get the Lightspeed Access Denied page, click the "submit it for review" link on the page. Fill in the appropriate information and submit the form. You will recieve an e-mail response which tells you if Lightspeed changed the category or left it the same. If you cannot get to the page, but there is no page telling you that Access has been Denied, you need to contact Richard Matthews by e-mail or phone.
