Today's school counselors are vital members of the education team. They help all students in the areas of academic achievement, career and social/emotional development, ensuring today's students become the productive, well-adjusted adults of tomorrow. Counselors serve two main roles: the first role is counseling. Counseling is a process where some students receive assistance from professionals who assist them to overcome emotional and social concerns which may interfere with learning. The second role counselors provide is guidance. Guidance is a process of regular assistance that all students receive from parents, teachers, school counselors, and others to assist them in making appropriate educational career choices.
School counseling and guidance services are provided by a certified counselor in a school setting. In the primary school setting school guidance is provided through program planning, implementation and evaluation; individual and group counseling; classroom and small group guidance; career and educational development; parent and teacher consultation; and referrals. I am excited to be working with the students, parents, teachers, and staff at Elbert County Primary School! I have 21 years of experience working with students as a guidance counselor and will continue to build upon that experience in Elbert County. Once again, I am thankful for the opportunity to be working with you and your children and know we will have a wonderful year!
